New Southwark Plan
General information about the New Southwark Plan
The NSP will be a new borough-wide planning and regeneration strategy up to 2033. Once finalised and adopted, it will replace current local plan, comprised of the saved Southwark Plan policies and the Core Strategy.
Consultation Update: The council has published the proposed submission version of the New Southwark Plan for informal consultation. Read below to find out more.

The proposed submission version of the NSP contains:
- area visions - setting out the aspirations of the borough’s distinctive neighbourhoods
- sites allocated for development across the borough with requirements on how they should be developed
- planning policies for making decisions on planning applications and development proposals
What stage are we at now:
We are now out for informal consultation on the New Southwark Plan: Proposed Submission Version (pdf, 22.3mb). Informal consultation will run for 6 weeks until 24 December 2017.
The decision to launch formal consultation will be made by the council at Council Assembly on 29 November 2017.
If approved by the council at council assembly, formal consultation will launch 2 January 2018 for 6 weeks until 12 February 2018.

Next stages of consultation
After this consultation, we'll submit the draft plan and all the comments received to the Secretary of State for a public examination.
