Southwark's lucky library winner announced

Rotherhithe resident Viara Pitaluga (on the left) is the lucky winner of Southwark Council's Canada Water Library's Golden Ticket.
The ticket gives the winner a year of free CD and DVD loans, free tickets to a performance in the culture space, a coffee and cake in the cafe and waived fines for late returns.
Mrs Pitaluga, a mother of two whose name was picked at random from those who entered, said: "I'm thrilled to receive this ticket. I'm not religious, but this library is like my place of worship. I'm really looking forward to bringing my family to a performance soon. The free CDs and DVDs will be really useful too."
Cllr Veronica Ward, Cabinet member for culture, leisure, sport and the Olympics, said: "We're thrilled to award this ticket to Mrs Pitaluga, and we hope she enjoys making the most of the benefits it brings. Southwark Council is committed to its libraries and this is one way we can reward one of our customers.
"Canada Water Library has been overwhelmed with the response from residents since it opened in November last year, with over 1,400 visits and over 1,000 items borrowed each day."
Next month (March) the library's children's programme of shows begins with The Snail and the Whale, whilst a regular programme of courses, story times, reading groups and other activities is offered at the library. For more information visit our libraries webpage.
