Southwark school out of special measures
Published 22 June 2010
A Headteacher has today thanked parents and staff for their efforts to bring a Southwark school out of special measures.
Goose Green Primary and Nursery School in East Dulwich has made considerable improvements to standards and is no longer in special measures after a recent OFSTED inspection.
The staff, leadership and governors have put in a great deal of work to raise standards at the school. The continued support from parents and carers is reflected by the fact the autumn intake is over subscribed and the school currently has a waiting list.
Sharron Marland, Headteacher said: "We are all delighted to be out of Special Measures. This has been achieved through the efforts of the staff, parents, children and governors all working together as a huge team. Congratulations to everyone!
Goose Green is at the beginning of an exciting new phase in the school's development. We are now on a par with our other local schools in East Dulwich and we will continue to further improve until we reach our aim of becoming an outstanding school."
Cabinet Member for Children's Services Catherine McDonald said: "Coming out of special measures is excellent news for Goose Green school. Everyone there has worked tremendously hard to make the necessary improvements. We're delighted."
A new children's centre is just one of the positive steps being taken by Goose Green School to further strengthen its links with the local community.
