Southwark consults on equalities and human rights services

Published 16 March 2010

Southwark Council today released a new consultation document for the future delivery of equalities and human rights services in the borough.

The council is inviting the community's preferred options for the delivery of these services; as well as calling for initial proposals for how they might best be delivered.

Cllr Adele Morris, executive member for citizenship, equalities and communities, said:

"We have a multicultural society in Southwark, and we are all really proud that our work in the community has been recognised with the recent Beacon award.

"This consultation will help us to get even better at making sure we stamp out discrimination."

Southwark Council has ongoing statutory responsibilities and a commitment to the delivery of equality and human rights functions through its own Equalities and Human Rights Scheme which runs from 2008/11.
