Chance for Southwark residents to keep fit in state of the art gym, for free.
Published 24 May 2011
To celebrate the opening of the brand new gym at Dulwich Leisure Centre, Southwark Council has organised a competition in which you can win free gym memberships for use at the centre.
Next month will see the completion of the £6.2m refurbishment of the centre, which adds a new gym with 100 workstations, and new dry-changing rooms to the fully operational pool, wet-changing rooms, reception, café and crèche.
To enter the competition, which is being run in partnership with Fusion, residents and members simply have to answer five multiple choice questions relating to Olympic sports on offer at the leisure centre - swimming, cycling, rowing, running and weightlifting.
There are three membership prizes to be won. The first prize is 12 months, the second prize is six months and the third prize is three months free membership.
You can enter the competition online or you can pick up a form at Dulwich Leisure Centre and selected shops and businesses in the East Dulwich area.
The competition closing date is 17 June.
Cllr Veronica Ward, cabinet member for culture, libraries, leisure and the Olympics at Southwark Council, said:
"I'd urge everyone to have a go at this competition. The new, larger gym is set to be a fantastic addition to Dulwich Leisure Centre, and the chance to win months of free gym membership is not to be missed. As we approach the one year to go to the Olympics, our aim is to give as many people as possible access to first class facilities like these, and they are going to be a great way to help our residents get fit."
Background Information
On Saturday 25 June the new extended gym and dry-changing rooms at Dulwich Leisure Centre will reopen to the public. Access for people with mobility and visual difficulties has been significantly improved across the site.
The completion of Dulwich Leisure Centre is the latest phase in Southwark Council's refurbishment programme which has so far seen the re-launch of Surrey Docks Watersports Centre in February 2010, and the first phase reopening of Camberwell Leisure Centre in February 2011.
