Reporting potholes is easy

Published 16 November 2010

We want to speed up the time it takes to repair potholes in the borough. This is your opportunity to support us by getting in touch.

We have £86,000 from the Department of Transport to spend repairing potholes in Southwark and this is your chance to report potholes.

We will continue to indentify potholes needing repair through road inspections, but you can help us speed up the process by reporting potholes near you.

What is considered a pothole that needs repairing?

This is a hole in the road that is more than 40mm deep.

Reporting is easy; you can do this online at www.southwark.gov.uk/streets or call 020 7525 2000 (24 hours).

We will acknowledge your request, inspect and carry out the repair as soon as possible.

We will update our website page on a weekly basis to inform you of how many fault reports we've received, how many we've found and how many we've repaired.

Councillor Barrie Hargrove, cabinet member for transport, environment and recycling at Southwark Council, said:

"Filling potholes and keeping the roads hazard free is a priority for Southwark Council. We are encouraging the public to get involved and help us to speed up the repair of potholes by reporting them to us so that we can keep the roads as safe as possible."

Which roads are maintained by the council?

We are responsible for maintaining over 340 kilometres of roads in the borough and our aim is to keep all carriageways in a usable condition for all users.

Which roads are not maintained by the council?

Red Routes which are maintained by Transport for London.  These are easily identifiable by their red road marking.  To report Red Route related faults, visit londonstreets@tfl.gov.uk or call 0845 305 1234 (24 hours).

Private roads, i.e. roads that have not been adopted.
