Russian football fans mark fallen soldiers at memorial

Ahead of a Champions League tie against Chelsea, fans of Spartak Moscow joined veterans and the Mayor to pay tribute to the Soviet soldiers who gave their lives in World War Two.
The Mayor of Southwark, Councillor Tayo Situ said: "It is wonderful to have all these people come together to remember the alliance between Russia and Great Britain."
Dmitri Alenichev, who also played for Roma and FC Porto player, said: "It is a great honour to be at this ceremony in memory of those people who showed extreme courage and heroism and those who gave up their lives for us. We should never forget what those people did and keep their memory in our hearts forever."
Philip Matthews, Chair of the Soviet Memorial Trust said: "We live here today with the freedom to live, work and play sport thanks to the great sacrifice of made by the former Soviet Union and their allies Great Britain and USA."
