Response to the release of footage from London Bridge terror attacks

8 June 2017

A response from Eleanor Kelly, Chief Executive of Southwark Council, regarding leaked footage of the London Bridge terror attacks.

"As many of you will be aware from reports in the press today, a video clip taken from Borough Market on Saturday evening, showing the tragic events of that night, is currently being widely circulated online and through social-media.

"These remain difficult days for so many within Southwark and beyond, and I strongly condemn the insensitive release of this footage, which can only add further distress to those who have been affected by those attacks and their families. I would discourage anyone from watching or sharing this footage if they come across it.

"In the days ahead we will continue to work tirelessly with our partners and our communities to provide ongoing support to those who have been affected by these attacks. We are immensely grateful to all of those who continue to contribute to this vital work.

"Since Saturday the people of Southwark and of London, have come together, stood together and grieved together. In the days and weeks ahead we will restore together. They will not win."
