Pupils from Camelot Primary School were joined by Millwall Academy Coach and Millwall for All Project Worker, Dean Palmer, and the Mayor of Southwark this week to officially open the refurbished football pen on the Ledbury Estate.

The £70,000 project was funded by both Peckham and Nunhead and Bermondsey and Rotherhithe Community Councils with money from the council’s Cleaner Greener Safer programme.

The funding was secured by the Ledbury TRA, who have also arranged for an on going football training programme for children with Millwall Football Club.

Cllr Barrie Hargrove, cabinet member for communities and safety, said: “This is a fantastic community project and a great example of how Cleaner Greener Safer funding can help bring people together and offer facilities and opportunities to play, learn and get active in their own neighbourhoods.”
