Winter Book Challenge
The Winter Book Challenge runs from 3 January to 18 March 2018. It’s a great chance for children and young people to try new books and challenge themselves to read more.
There are three age categories, and you can register in any Southwark Library to take part. Any book borrowed and read in that time will count towards the challenge, but we also have some recommendations for all ages.
Children and young people aged five to 17 who complete the challenge will be entered into a prize draw. To be eligible for the challenge prizes you must:
- be a member of a Southwark Library
- make sure that all books read during the challenge are borrowed from a Southwark Library
- register to take part in the challenge
- read five or ten books (depending on your age) of your choice by 19 March 2017
Ages four and under
We would like parents and carers to read to their child or children every day. Once registered parents will be given a reading log to register the date and name of the book read to their child. Once the log is complete parents will be entered into a prize draw to win a £20 Early Learning.
Ages five to 11 years
Children in this age group will receive their reading log and a sticker for each book they read. Children who read ten books will be entered into a prize draw to win a £10 Voucher.
Ages 12 to 17 years
Young people in this age group are challenged to read 5 books during the winter months. Once registered they will receive their reading log. Those who read five books will be entered into a prize draw to win a £30 voucher.
