Six word story competition inspired by Ernest Hemingway

Ernest Hemingway once wrote a story in six words - For sale: baby shoes, never worn. Can you write a story in six words? Write something about Southwark that will intrigue us all.

To enter visit a Southwark Library and pick up a Six Word Story postcard. Write your six word story and hand to a member of library staff – the winner will win a £30 Amazon voucher. Suitable for 12+ and adults.

Funny Southwark competition for kids

Children unintentionally write the funniest things, sometimes in a letter to parents or just in their stories written at school. We would like parents and carers to enter these hilarious notes, letters or stories into the competition. There are two categories for ages 3 to 7 and 8 to 11.

To enter you must live in Southwark or your child must attend a Southwark School. Photocopy then submit your child’s entry at your local Southwark Library or scan a copy to Each prize winner will receive a trophy and there will be a £10 Amazon voucher for ages 3 to 7 and a £20 Amazon voucher for ages 8 to 11.

Winner announced: Monday 11 June 2018. Winners and along with their parents/carers will be invited to a special event to collect their prizes.
