Are you looking for an opportunity to give back to your local area? Volunteering at Southwark Libraries could be just right for you. Libraries are at the heart of our communities, allowing you to engage with residents and have a meaningful impact.

Your role as a library volunteer would involve working with our staff to deliver some vibrant, interactive and fulfilling events for children and adults. You will also help to provide an inspiring and informative visitor experience.

We have a number of voluntary roles available throughout the service. We also offer work experience and Duke of Edinburgh Award placements for young people.

  • Roles are available at various libraries throughout the borough 
  • Travel expenses are paid 
  • All prospective volunteers will need to complete a free DBS / reference check 
  • Training and induction to the library service and events will be provided
