Investing in leisure

In February 2007, Southwark Council agreed to allocate £12.3 million for the refurbishment of its leisure centres.

The first phase of the £12.3m investment involves the complete refurbishment of Dulwich Leisure Centre at £6.1m and Surrey Docks Watersports Centre at £2.39m. The Dulwich Leisure Centre project is well under way and Surrey Docks Watersports Centre re-opened on February 10 2010.

The council has also allocated over £2.5m, which together with the funding awarded by the Department of Culture, Media and Sports, will go towards a sustainable investment solution for Camberwell Leisure Centre.
