Increasing energy efficiency in council homes

We have 90 central boiler houses which provide 22,000 council homes their heating. The energy management team are looking at ways of improving the energy efficiency of these. This will help reduce energy costs for the council and tenants, as well as help tackle climate change.

Loft and cavity wall insulation

We have successfully bid for £4.3 million to invest in cavity wall insulation in tall blocks of flats, which will make 5,000 council homes warmer and more energy efficient. We also aiming to install loft insulation in up to 10,000 dwellings by the end of December 2012.

Tenants wishing to install insulation in their own properties may be able to providing they have the permisson of the council. Further details are in your tenancy agreement
