Grants and discounts
A number of grants may be available to you.
Coldbusters
Are you living in privately rented accommodation and your household includes
- Older people?
- People with long tetm illness or disability?
- Families with young children
- On a low income or receive benefits
You may be eligible for a Colbuster grant for up to £5,000 for some heating and insulation improvements.
Here are some ways a Coldbuster grant can help you save money
- A new central heating system or heating boiler cans ave you £100 a year
- Upgraded heating controls could save you £60 a year
- Cavity wall insulation could save you up to £160 a year
- Fully insulating your loft could save you £200 a year and topping up to £270mm could save you £60 a year
- Draught proofing gaps and open chimneys can save you £30 a year

Warm Front
Do you receive any benefits? Find out if you are eligible for a grant of up to £3,500 for heating and insulation instalments. Visit the Warm Front website or call free on 0800 316 2805.
If you are over 60 and own or privately rent your home, but do not qualify for a Warm Front grant because you do not receive a relevant benefit, Warm Front can offer £300 towards the cost of replacement, repair or installation of central heating. Call 0800 316 2808 to find out more.
Landlord's energy saving allowance
Landlords who pay income tax and let residential property to tenants can also apply for the landlord's energy saving allowance.
A deduction of up to £1,500 for income tax purposes is applicable for each building when:
- Cavity wall insulation
- Loft insualtion
- Solid wall insulatioN
- Floor insulation
is installed.
If you've carried out these works recently, you may still be able to make a claim.
