Open space strategy
Southwark draft Open Space Strategy 2012
A draft strategy has been prepared for the borough which provides a framework for the provision of open space. See our open space strategy.
The strategy sets out a vision and objectives for the borough and identifies key needs and priorities for the different types of open space. The strategy also sets standards of open space for each type of open space and highlights the key priorities for investment and improvement.
The strategy is accompanied by an evidence base document which sets out how the strategy has been developed based on the local needs and existing provision of open space in Southwark.
As the strategy will make up an important part of the evidence base needed in the preparation of planning policy documents, we have prepared a number of supporting documents alongside the draft strategy.
We consulted on the draft strategy and supporting documents from 17 January 2012 until Tuesday 8 May 2012. We will review the final strategy in light of the comments recieved and will take the final strategy to cabinet for adoption in autumn this year.
Southwark Open Spaces Study 2010
This report provides the evidence base setting out the current position with regard to the provision of open spaces in Southwark. The open spaces strategy will be published later this year.
