Current penalty charges

Current penalty charges

To make sure penalty charges are the same across London, they are set by London Councils, not by Southwark Council. For more information, please visit London Councils website.

Penalty charges for parking tickets

There are two bands for penalty charge notices in Southwark

  • Band A, all roads north of Dulwich Common A205, £80 or £130 depending on the contravention
  • Band B, all roads south of Dulwich Common A205, £60 or £110 depending on the contravention

Costs

  • If the charge is unpaid after 28 days, a notice to owner is sent to the registered keeper of the vehicle and it must be paid in full.
  • If the charge is unpaid, it increases by 50% once you have received your charge certificate.
  • If the charge is subsequently registered as a debt, a £7 court fee is also payable.
  • If bailiffs are instructed to recover the debt, bailiff charges are also payable.
For example, in band A:
  • The full penalty charge notice is £130.
  • If you pay within 14 days the amount payable is £65.
  • If it is not paid before the end of the last day of the period of 28 days the charge increases to £195 when a charge certificate is issued.
  • If the charge of £195 is not paid, it is registered as a debt and increases to £202.
