Southwark's sure start children's centres and libraries

Sure Start children's centres are national schemes to

Improve the health, development and education of very young children.
Increase the availability of childcare for all children.
Support parents in their role and in developing their employment aspirations.

Southwark libraries and the Centre for Literacy in Primary Education (CLPE), offer a wide range of bookstart plus sessions funded by children's centres.

Sessions are designed and run by staff from CLPE, with support from our bookstart librarians. Each session includes singing, educational play, storytelling and much more.
