Paxton Green roundabout improvements

Background

Southwark Council has been working with stakeholders to develop proposals aimed at improving road safety conditions at Paxton roundabout, particularly for pedestrians and cyclists. The proposal aims to encourage motorists to reduce their speed, reduce the wide road space and improve safety at pedestrian crossings.

The Council has been working on some design options with stakeholders and has trialled the preferred layout using temporary materials.

This approach ensures the proposal is well evaluated and any impact on capacity assessed with a view to make any necessary modifications.

Video survey, queue length survey, site visits from officers and feedback/ observations from stakeholders will be used as part of the trial assessment.

The council consulted stakeholders in November 2013 on proposals to improve Paxton roundabout and revised proposals were developed.
