Planning an event
There are many things you need to consider when planning an event such as hiring a venue, applying for the proper licences and making sure that you have all of the necessary health and safety precautions in place.
You will also need to make sure your event is accessible to everyone and consider how best to promote your event.
Of course, before any of this can happen, you will probably need to find the money to pay for it all and apply for some funding.
Good events are worth shouting about so it is important to properly evaluate and document your event.

Events in 2012
With the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, closely followed by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, 2012 is set to be an extremely busy and exciting year in London. If you are planning an event during the year, especially in the summer, you will need to begin your planning as soon as possible in order to get all the permissions you need and to secure the suppliers for the event.
The events team at Southwark try where possible to provide advice and support to events organisers in Southwark. The pages in this section have lots of useful tips and suggestions to help you in your planning.
We also from time to time run Revealed, a series of training courses covering key aspects of event planning.
