Prices and payment

The standard rent for a secure Southwark Council tenant, resident leaseholder or a resident freeholder who pays service charges is £18.62 a week. Anyone who does not fall within these categories will be charged a private sector rent of £27.50 a week.

Rent needs to be paid weekly on a Monday. Advance rent of four weeks is a requirement for all new lettings.

Please note that if your account falls into arrears the council may terminate your garage licence and you may be liable for additional charges.

How do I make a payment?

• By calling our 24 hour automated telephone line (0845 6000 611), using a credit or debit card
• Online using a credit or debit card
• Cash, at one of the cash offices. These are located at 19-23 Bournemouth Road and 177-179 Walworth Road.
• Cheque, addressed to Southwark Council
• Standing order: you will need to fill in a form, which you can obtain from Rotherhithe Area Housing Office or by contacting the Garages team directly
• Direct debit: you will need to fill in a form, which you can obtain from Rotherhithe Area Housing Office or by contacting the Garages team directly
• Rent swipe card, at a post office, PayPoint or Payzone
