Funding for the project
Funding for the project
Burgess Park was granted £2m by the Mayor of London in March 2009. The Mayor’s grant was matched with a further £4m of funding which was secured through an enhanced partnership between the council and the Aylesbury New Deal for Communities, now Creation Trust. In addition, over £1.1m that’s been invested by Southwark Council.
What will £6 million do for Burgess Park?

We are continuing to try to secure further funds for Burgess Park so that we can deliver a more comprehensive scheme but to start off with the £6 million will get us
- Better roads and paths and the creation of new access routes within and across the park.
- Improved park boundaries.
- Welcoming signage at the park's access points.
- Increased biodiversity - we will protect wildlife, create habitat for existing and new species and introduce plants.
- A 21st century design for Burgess Park that will unify the 46 hectares of inner city, public, green space for local communities and visitors.
