About the games

Southwark Community Games (SCG) comprises a year round, borough wide, programme of sports coaching and competition for 8 to 16 year olds and is delivered in schools, housing estates and other community venues across the borough.

The programme employs six full-time staff members and a team of casual, sessional and specialist coaches. Along side this there is a programme of vocational training for 13+ year olds including governing body coaching awards, the Level 2 Award in Community Sports Leadership, the Level 1 Award in Sports Leadership, and the Women, Get Set, Go! course delivered in partnership with the industry standard training leaders Sports Leaders UK. 

In response to the local need for more opportunities to participate and compete in sport, particularly for children and young people and to help address the Every Child Matters agenda of Be Healthy - Be Safe - Enjoy and Achieve - Positive contribution - Economic well being.
