Applications
Southwark's community councils welcome ideas put forward by local people to improve their local environment. Successful applications will be awarded funding in February - March 2012.
Who can apply?
Anyone can apply - an individual or someone on behalf of a group - but you must live or work in the community council area where you are proposing the scheme.
What ideas will be considered?
Any idea that brings a permanent physical improvement to the environment will be considered - that is, any idea that makes your area cleaner greener or safer!
Examples of suitable ideas
- Parks, community gardens, landscaping, tree planting and wildlife areas
- Children's playgrounds, youth facilities, ball courts and cycle tracks
- Security measures (such as lighting and fencing), pavements and tackling 'grot spots'
Examples of unsuitable ideas
- CCTV - as this has ongoing revenue costs which cannot be covered by CGS money
- Ideas that do not create permanent physical improvements e.g. workshops, festivals, salaries, computer equipment, maintenance
- Internal works on housing property
Have a look at community council pages to see some of the previous successful applications. All eligible projects will also be considered for the council's community project bank.
How do I apply?
Apply online now - please make sure you do not miss the closing date of Friday 6 January 2012.
