Investing in leisure
We are investing £12.3 million in the refurbishment of our leisure centres.
Surrey Docks Watersports Centre reopened with a new gym and improved watersports facilities on 10 February 2010.
The first phase of Dulwich Leisure Centre was completed in September 2010 and included a 25-metre pool, new entrance lobby, cafe and crèche, and phase two, a new 100 workout station gym and changing rooms completed in June 2011.
Recent additional funding for Camberwell Leisure Centre means that the total investment budget has now risen to £4.7 million. This will provide a leisure centre of which the local community can be proud.

Elephant and Castle consultation
A public consultation took place between 23 August and 8 October 2010 when local residents and customers were asked what amenities and services they would like to see in a possible new facility. Following this consultation, on 23 November 2010 the cabinet gave approval to progress with the design of a new facility.
