How to complete your census
How to complete your census
Your census will be posted to you in March, and you should have received your form by census day, 27 March.
Requesting a replacement form
If you have lost, damaged, or not received your household questionnaire, or if there is more than one household at your address you can request a replacement form here.
Your census form contains questions about the people who live in your household, and you can fill in the paper form or complete it online. It's easy and hassle free to do it online, and should take around ten minutes.
You can complete your census online between 4 March and 6 May, and you'll find a code on the front of your paper questionnaire, which you'll need to fill in your form online. Just go to the census website, click start here and follow the on-screen instructions. When you've finished, just click submit to send your information.
If you don't have access to the internet or prefer not to do it online, you can fill in the paper form, sign the declaration on the front and post it back in the return envelope provided.
You will be able to answer most questions simply by ticking a box. If there isn't a box that applies to you, you will be able to type or write your answer in the space provided.
You need to include the names and details of everyone who'll be living or staying in your household on census day, even babies, visitors and guests who are staying overnight.
Extra support
For many people, this year will be the first time they've been asked to fill in a census. We understand that some people might need a little extra help, so there's a wide range of support available to make sure you're able to take part.
