Encouraging sustainable communities
The frameworks and implementation team, through section 106, has developed with partners a number of socio economic projects in the north of Southwark.
Section 106 monies, particularly from the Bankside Mix development, have been used to make provision for a variety of community facilities, employment and education programmes to empower and encourage active communities.
Projects we have supported include
- The provision of new community facilities for local residents, community organisations and local businesses
- Supporting community organisations to deliver services for local residents
- Providing capital funding for major redevelopment of Blackfriars Settlements community and training centre
- Working with local schools to develop training courses and education workshops to encourage the community to gain new skills and promote life long learning
- Work experience programmes for local youths, where local youths can gain career related skills, networking opportunities and mentorin
