St John's Churchyard

We are working with Churchman Landscape Architects to deliver environmental improvements to St John's Churchyard. Bounded by Druid Street and Tower Bridge Road, the park is often used as a place for rest and relaxation or as a pedestrian route.

Although the park was recently developed in 2004 with additional planting, seating, and new equipment, increased use of the park has left some features looking tired and in need of improvement.

As part of the Bermondsey streetscape improvement programme, section 106 funding has been allocated to this park to provide further improvements.

Stage 2 consultation

We would like to thank everyone who attended the two consultation events on 16 and the 23 June 2010. You can take a look at report to see what people told us at the events and also our stage one consultation report.

Following your feedback we have prepared a detailed design that provides improved play facilities for children as well as additional seating in the park. Our proposals for the refurbishment of the park now require planning and faculty permission to proceed.

The consultation period for faculty permission is 28 days. This will start on Monday 11 April 2011 and will finish on Monday 9 May 2011. Please submit your comments by Monday 9 May to Yvonne Sampoh.

The pathways within the park will be redesigned and it will follow the natural route regularly taken by users of the park. A new seating area will also be created at the south eastern end of the park near the corner of Tower Bridge and Druid Street.
