London Bridge and Bankside development team
London Bridge and Bankside is undergoing considerable change, with a target of 30,000 new jobs and 2,500 additional homes between 2001 and 2026 identified in the Southwark Plan. To view the amount of projects taking place in the area, please view the construction project map and key.
To deliver these targets, a number of large scale schemes have been approved in the area in recent years, such as the Shard of Glass, New London Bridge House, Tate Modern extension, Thameslink Programme, London Bridge Station masterplan, Project Bankside, More London, and Bankside Mix.
Most of these developments have received planning permission and agreed substantial section 106 agreements to deliver the infrastructure within the London Bridge Area. In addition to achieving the council's aims for the development of a world class quarter of a world class city the council has to ensure that the construction of these developments are undertaken in a manner that protects as far as possible the safety, environment, health and well being and livelihoods of existing residents and businesses.
