Bermondsey Streetscape Improvement Programme

Tanner Street Bridge

The Bermondsey Streetscape Improvement programme was approved by the planning committee on  October 7 2008. The programme is a strategic approach to deliver public realm schemes across the Bermondsey community council area covering Grange, Riverside and South Bermondsey wards.

Thirty one projects

New public realm, open space and transport projects will be delivered as part of the programme. These projects will be managed and overseen by the frameworks and implementation team but will actively involve other teams and departments to achieve the best results.

Many of the projects were identified through previous consultation exercises with the community and the works programme was well received by Bermondsey community council. Additional consultation will take place with each project as it is developed and implemented.

To see details of the projects approved for the Bermondsey community council area please download a copy of the Streetscape improvement programme report.

Section 106 funding

The programme is primarily funded through section 106 funds that have been paid to the council by developers. Due to the requirements of section 106 agreements, the programme will deliver projects that are in close vicinity to the developments which have provided the funding.

Project updates

Regular updates will be provided to the community council but watch out for information on individual projects in the projects underway to improve our environment webpages.
