Affordable housing

Social housing

The Heygate rehousing programme aims to deliver up to 598 new homes. Over 510 of these will be affordable and former Heygate residents will have priority for occupation.

The programme involves ten Southwark Council owned sites being developed in partnership with five housing associations L&Q, Wandle, Guinness Trust, Affinity Sutton, Family Mosaic. Nine schemes have been or are in the process of being constructed. Subject to funding, it is hoped that the final scheme at Stead Street will be submitted for planning late this year.

The projects have been funded from a combination of HCA grant funding, the council putting their land in for free, funds from the RSL and the recycling of value generated from private house sales.
