Junior Streetleaders in schools
Southwark teachers can lead an environmental audit of the area around their school and use these web pages to show their students how to approach the council in order to improve their local environment.
Visual audits involve map reading skills to survey local streets and plot problem areas. They report these problems directly to Southwark Council and the class can carry out the survey again in a few weeks to see what has been sorted.

What Ofsted thought
"The imaginative activities involving the wider community give pupils a sharp insight into how their environment can be looked after and improved. Various activities, such as the junior street leaders project when pupils identify where the local area needs cleaning up, give them an appreciation of their community responsibilities".
