Cuming Museum events

There are regular activities at the Cuming Museum for all visitors including workshops, lectures and events based on our temporary exhibitions. 

Explore and Play

Every Thursday, 10am to 11.15am

Explore and play is our free sessions for under fives and their families.  Discover what's behind the doors of the Cuming Museum with the Cuming explorers. Also, music, performance, storytelling and crafts. In association with Victory School Children's Centre.

Serendipity and Calamity

Thursday 2 February, 6pm to 8pm

Folk singer Nigel of Bermondsey and storyteller Vanessa Wolf will be exploring the Edward Lovett collection through words and music. There will be an opportunity to view and handle lucky charms and folk objects from the Lovett collection. Nigel will be singing a song specially commissioned by the Cuming Museum for this event and Vanessa will be telling a cautionary tale on the value of respecting the wisdom of the ancients. This event is free of charge.

Family portraits workshop

Saturday 4 February, 11am to 12.30pm

Take part in photo portrait sessions and make collage portraits of your family.

Exploring the Elephant celebration day

Saturday 18 February, 1pm to 4pm

Free afternoon of family activities including character doll and sparkly globe workshops, henna tattoos, and story telling. Sessions at 1.30pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm.

At home at the Elephant

Tuesday 14 February, 2.30pm

Writer, Sarah Butler, will help you share stories about the events and people that make you feel At home at the Elephant. Photographer Eva Sajovic will be taking portrait photographs along the way.

This is home

Thursday 16 February, 2.30pm

This is home looks at what object/s and space/s you associate with home, working with photographer Eva Sajovic and writer Sarah Butler to create words and images exploring how we create the idea of home.
