Local history library fees
Photocopying facilities
The Southwark Local History Library offers two self-service photocopiers. There is an ordinary copier suitable for text and a colour laser copier that gives a greatly enhanced image suitable for copying illustrations. Most items in the library may be copied, but there are restrictions on some items, due to their age, condition or the limits imposed by the Copyright and Patents Act. Please ask a member of staff for assistance if required.
The cost of photocopies is 10p for A4 and 20p for A3 on the ordinary machine. Laser copies start at 50p for a b/w A4 and £1.00 for a colour A4.
Printing is available from the public PCs at 20p per page.
Microfilm and microfiche photocopies
The library has three reader-printers. These allow you to make photocopies from the sources which are held in these formats. You are strongly advised to book this machine before you visit. A4 copies from this machine cost 30p.
Copies of photographs from the Southwark Local History Library
The Southwark Local History Library has a large photographic collection, covering all aspects of life in Southwark. Copies of these photographs can be made for you, at an approximate cost of £5 for an 8" by 6" black and white print (assuming a negative exists). Please ask for further details.
Reproduction Fees
Permission to reproduce material from either a photograph or film that has come from Southwark Local History Library must be sought in writing from the Local Studies Librarian. Permission is granted on condition that appropriate fees are paid and that acknowledgement is made to Southwark Local History Library. The library also requests one free copy of the publication, or item. Fees may be waived for Southwark based non-profit making organisations, on condition that a copy of the published item is deposited in Southwark Local History Library.
