Blue plaque for Sir Henry Cooper

Sir Henry Cooper, British and Commonwealth Heavyweight Champion, unveiled on September 11 2008, his own blue plaque on the former pub/gymnasium where he trained and famously knocked-out Mohammed Ali.

The Nolias Gallery, formerly, the Thomas a Beckett Public House, Old Kent Road, was filled with boxing legends and the media who were all treated to Sir Henry Copper giving his old punching bag a few blows.

"It's marvellous that Southwark Council, with the help of its residents, can honour the boxing legend Sir Henry Cooper..."
