The Elephant and the Nun
Following a successful first outing in 2011, The Elephant and the Nun returns in 2012 to celebrate the heart of Southwark.
The festival runs from Friday 24 August to Sunday 2 September with events in Elephant and Castle, Walworth, Kennington, Camberwell, Peckham and Nunhead.
Come and be part of the fun
The Elephant and The Nun brings together community groups, individuals, businesses and schools in a festival that gives the area and its residents a chance to shine.
In 2011 over 30 venues took part, Swing Patrol ran dancing drop-in sessions in local pubs, Artlicks toured Peckham and Camberwell, there were tango classes in Tesco, a Kinetika Bloco carnival in Asda and burlesque life drawing at Hotel Elephant. 2012 is set to be even better.
If you have an event or activity that celebrates the community, challenges stereotypes and is creative and fun and you would like it to happen as part of The Elephant and the Nun let us know by completing our simple form here by the 15 June 2012.
Festival finale
On Sunday 2 September, several simultaneous festivals will take place in parks and open spaces across the festival area.
These areas are being programmed by community partners and will include sports and cultural activities and live performances for all ages. Full details will appear here soon.
