Black History Month
Black history month 2010
Black History Month 2010 celebrated 'The Journey: past, present, future' with an array of events from talks, walks, exhibitions, film screenings, to workshops, and dance classes.
There were plenty of free events for Black history month including:
- Encouraging people to make African inspired wall hangings and masks
- Food tasting
- Promoting education and understanding of the African Diaspora cultures
- Fashion shows
- Fairs
and much more.
The Black History Month 2010 programme was visually stunning piece of print that included photographs taken by the photographer Franklyn Rodgers, and featured images of local people.
Franklyn Rodgers' work can also be found, as a permanent, public exhibition at the side of Peckham Library on Peckham Hill Street.
