Section 106 SPD

What is a supplementary planning document (SPD)?

A supplementary planning document (SPD) provides additional information on planning policies in a development plan.

SPDs fit into the new type of local plan called the local development framework that has been introduced by the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004.

Why have we prepared a draft SPD?

We prepared a Section 106 SPD to create greater transparency and honesty in the way planning contributions are agreed with developers.

The document expands on the Section 106 planning policy in the Southwark plan and sets out how and when we will seek these contributions from developers when considering planning applications.
