Bulky waste collection

Bulky collection service

We will collect items which are too large for your rubbish bin free of charge.

Every household in the borough can have one collection of up to 15 bulky items each calendar month.

If you have more than this to dispose of you can:

  • Contact a private waste company that rents skips or provides a clearance service.
  • Take your bulky items to the Reuse and recycling centre.
  • Contact one of the local charities or organisations that recycle or reuse bulky items.  Many of them will come and collect these from you.

How to use the bulky collection service

  • Check your bulky waste against the list of items we are unable to collect.
  • To arrange a collection either complete the online appointment form or  phone 020 7525 2000.
  • When making the booking, all items need to be detailed. For example, two wardrobes, one double bed base and one mattress is considered to be four items. Only pre-booked items will be collected.
  • Items must be presented neatly and safely. Loose waste must be contained, e.g. bagged, boxed, or tied up, and be of a size and weight that can be safely managed by two operatives.
  • On the day of collection, leave the items outside where they can be easily found and reached. Prior to this day, they must stay within the boundary of your property to avoid prosecution for flytipping
  • If you are disposing of unwanted computing equipment via our bulky waste collection service, you should protect yourself by ensuring that all personal information has been thoroughly wiped from any storage devices (e.g hard drives) within that equipment.
