Street name plates
Street name plates
We are responsible for ensuring that street name plates are provided for each road in Southwark and that they are fitted in suitable positions. We are also responsible for the repair and maintenance of street name plates if they're damaged. In the case of new development however, the developer is responsible for the erection of name plates to the council's specification.
You can report a problem with a street name plate by contacting us or by completing the online street furniture problem report form.
Reducing street clutter
As part of a new scheme to remove clutter from our streets we are gradually removing any street name signposts and fixing the street name plates onto other appropriate street furniture such as lampposts. This will help to keep our street corners clear of unnecessary poles and signposts that obstruct pedestrians and people using wheelchairs or buggies.
The work is scheduled to take place over a three year period and will include removal and renewal of street name plates
