Street furniture and lighting

Street furniture and lighting

Report damaged street furniture

The council looks after hundreds of benches, miles of iron railings, road signs, bollards and other 'street furniture'.

Please report broken or damaged street furniture such as railings, bollards, benches etc.

Damaged street furniture on council housing estates should be reported to the area housing office.

Report a faulty street light

The lighting team look after 16,000 street lights and 4,000 other lighted signs including bollards, beacons and spotlights at zebra crossings.

The council is responsible for the bulbs and the metal poles of street lights. Any electrical faults have to be referred to the electricity company and take longer to fix, so occasionally lights with faults will not be fixed immediately.

You can report a faulty street light online, or by contacting us via telephone or email.

For street lighting issues on council housing estates, contact your area housing office.
