Road safety plan

Southwark Council is committed to improving road safety, reducing the number of people killed or injured on the roads and reducing the severity of injuries.

The council's road safety plan was adopted by the council's executive in May 2009 following public consultation in late 2008. The plan sets outs the priorities and actions for making Southwark's roads safer in future and includes areas such as

  • 20mph speed limits
  • local safety schemes
  • making travel to and from school safer
  • education and training
  • improving conditions for pedestrians
  • reducing road danger for cyclists

Public consultation on the road safety plan ran from Monday November 10 to Tuesday December 23 2008.
