Education and training
Education
Reducing the number of accidents on the road involves changing attitudes through a planned and structured programme for children and adults.
Road awareness needs to be developed from an early age and continued throughout life. We offer a service to playgroups, nurseries and schools in Southwark which includes
- Road safety projects tailored to the national curriculum
- Educational resources
- Guidance on school road safety policies
Our resources includes information for all road users.
Motorcycle Campaign
Road Safety Week 21November to 27th November 2011
Southwark road safety officers will be working with the Metropolitan police in a speed enforcement campaign. A mixture of education and enforcement will be used to educate motorcyclists on the need to be seen and to keep within the speed limits.
Motorcyclists still account for around 20 percent of fatal or serious injuries, despite being only around 1 percent of motor traffic. The campaign will focus on two sites in Southwark, London Bridge and New Kent road, both sites have recently experience motorcyclists fatalities.
