Disabled parking
The parking shop will close on 7 January 2011. All on-street parking transactions are available online or via phone on 0844 800 2736.
In this section you can find out more about where you can park with a blue badge and how you can apply for a disabled parking space.
For more information about European blue badges and how to apply, please visit the European blue badge disabled parking permit page.
Wherever possible, the council endeavours to provide parking for disabled residents and visitors. Generally we install two types of disabled spaces.
Origin blue badge bays
These are installed for residents of the borough as close to their home as possible. The bays will be installed when an application has been made (see pages below), assessed and the relevant criteria met. This is an ongoing council service. It is noted that any blue badge holder can park in any blue badge bay in Southwark.
Destination blue badge bays
These are installed in proximity to shops and services where there is a demand for such facilities (usually where demand for parking space is high). The bays will usually have a maximum stay period of four hours to encourage turn over of space and prevent all day parking. These can be investigated where funds are available.
