Publication of new licensing policies
On Wednesday 12 October 2011, Council Assembly considered and approved two new Southwark licensing policies. Both policies came into immediate effect and should be read thoroughly by anyone looking to apply for a relevant licence.
Both policies were prepared following public consultation. We would like to thank all those who took the time to submit their views. Further details of the policies themselves and the responses received to the public consultation exercises are provided below.

Southwark Sex Establishments Policy 2011
This policy deals with applications for:
- Sex shops
- Sex cinemas
- Sex entertainment venues
It sets out how the council intends to decide applications for sex establishments.
The policy includes the criteria that this council intends to use to help consider appropriate locations for sex establishments. Applicants should note that while we will consider applications on their own merits, the response from our public consultation exercise did not identify any location as appropriate for a sex establishment.
