East Street library

East Street library is situated on the corner of Old Kent Road and East Street. This friendly local library is just a few minutes away from the Elephant and Castle.

The library features a special Spanish collection which includes:

  • Fiction from a wide range of Latin American authors
  • Spanish translations of popular titles from around the world
  • A range of non fiction including history, biographies and cookery books
  • Language courses for Spanish speakers learning English
  • Children's titles in Spanish and in dual language Spanish and English
  • The best of Latin American Cinema on DVD.

Online library

As part of East Street's library of the month events a new trial service has been launched. For the whole of February you can access free books to read online. Bloomsbury's Public Library Online offers a range of titles which can be viewed on any internet enabled device - no downloading required!

The main trial ends on 29 February 2012 but The Arden Shakespeare and Our Environment shelves are sponsored by Google and will be available free of charge for 12 months.
