Different types of housing
What is keyworker housing?
Keyworker housing is low cost housing, some to rent, some to buy and some to part buy/part rent where applications from keyworkers will get priority. But that doesn't mean that you have to be a keyworker to get it.
This type of housing doesn't go through the council's waiting list and waiting times can be a lot shorter. You will also get more choice about where you want to live.
You will have to be in work and keyworkers will get priority in most schemes. If you're buying a home or a share of one, you will have to get a mortgage from a bank or building society.
For more information on this type of housing see the First step website.
