Homesearch
Social housing in Southwark is allocated through Homesearch. This means that every week we advertise all the properties available, whether they are from the Council, housing associations or even other boroughs, on our website and people bid for them.
This gives you the right to choose where you want to live.
Once your name is on the waiting list you will be sent a letter telling you
- your homesearch registration number
- your band
- your registration date
You can read more about the waiting list and priority bands in Letting Southwark Homes. Or you can do a self assessment online with our housing options wizard.
But remember, there were nearly than sixteen and a half thousand people on the waiting list in 2009 and only 1780 properties advertised. That means the majority of those on the waiting list will not be successful in bidding in any one year.
Your chances of being successful depends on when you joined the list on your band.
Homesearch magazine
Following detailed analysis of resident's preferences for home bidding, a decision has been made by the council to end the publication of the Homesearch magazine and move this service online. The last edition of the weekly Homesearch magazine will be published on 22 December 2011.
