Youth volunteering
Information on volunteering
You're unique. You can make a difference. Whatever you're into, we can show you how your passions, skills and talents can make a real impact:
- The y-volunteer project is Southwark's volunteering hub for young people.
- Check out the Junior StreetLeaders who are making Southwark greener.
- Do you want to raise awareness about issues that matter to you and other young people? Then get involved with the Southwark Youth Council.
- To search for a volunteering placement visit http://www.do-it.org/
Become a y-volunteer
With y-volunteer, young people aged 16 to 25 volunteer some of their time to help others, doing what they enjoy.
Through the scheme they can get involved in local issues they care about. At the same time gaining experience, confidence and skills.
Volunteers can be involved in projects such as:
- Sports coaching
- Environmental issues
- Youth leadership
- Music
- Dance
It is also possible for volunteers to create their own project. No previous skills needed, just an urge to get involved.
What's provided?
The friendly y-volunteer team will offer advice and guidance when you need it, and also cover volunteering expenses if necessary so volunteering shouldn't cost you a penny.
