Annual gas safety check

Annual gas safety check

By law, Southwark Council must inspect gas appliances in your home every year. We do this free of charge.

Our responsibilities

We are committed to keeping everyone in our homes safe. To achieve this, we have the following responsibilities:

  • We maintain all gas appliances and flues in our homes every year.
  • The engineers who carry out this work will be registered with the Gas Safe Register which has now replaced the CORGI gas register.
  • We will check all flues and chimneys during the servicing. We will also check the gas pipe work in your home.
  • The engineer will give you a copy of the gas service certificate. This confirms that the appliance has been checked and tells you when it next needs to be serviced.

Why do we need to carry out the gas safety check every year? For more information, see the Health and Safety Executive website.
